Fireside Chat with Father Bob Maguire

Father Bob Maguire is a man of passion, creativity and humour; he is part Billy Connolly, part angry Old Testament prophet and part compassionate Mother Theresa.

Coraggio is delighted to extend you a complimentary invitation to join us as our guest and hear firsthand how we can expand and future proof your business, followed by a personal session with Father Bob Maguire.

Coraggio’s CEO, Richard Skarzynski will open the session discussing how being part of a Coraggio peer-to-peer Advisory Board provides a sustainable solution to navigate your business effectively throughout 2021 and beyond. Followed by a fireside chat with Father Bob Maguire.

About Father Bob Maguire

Australian Roman Catholic priest

Father Bob Maguire joined the parish in St Peters and Paul in South Melbourne. He thought he had entered the badlands, a place where refugees from life were gathering. Housing commission flats brought new cohort to the place, the South Melbourne Football Club was falling out of favour and the collapse of the Westbridge a few years earlier set a pall over the people which would continue for a generation. He knew he had his work cut out for him – just the place for an enterprising priest.

Shortly after he discovered this was a community, in the real sense of the word. This became his home, physically, spiritually and socially. It was here that the seeds of the Father Bob Maguire Foundation were sown, which would flourish for more than 30 years.

Rather than Minister to the community, the reverse was true. They showed Father Bob the way. They revealed their humility which was, thankfully, tempered by liberal doses of scepticism; however they loved one another and cared for each other in a way that still leaves Bob breathless.

The Foundation is a repository of ideas in action. It brings various community investments under one umbrella, and it offers sustainability and vision for the future. They offer an outreach program, street based community meals, education program, community pantry, advocacy service and social inclusion programs, all of which bring dignity, respect and possibility to people, irrespective of what brings them to our door.

It is Father Bob’s belief that the Foundation will continue to grow and be a loud and passionate advocate for the voiceless and the forgotten.
